Filming Day

Talk about Filming-

Left Feeling stressed!

After a good filming session I felt relieved and good about transferring the stuff over. Solomon had left me his hard drive in order for me to make a start, as he was dropping people off. Me and Sam had arrived at uni with 3 cameras and tripods excluding our own equipment. We had asked Adam for some card readers however they were unreliable and so we would be lucky if one of them read it.
I had my own individual card reader for cards (micro sd adapters), but this couldnt read the micro sd cards or the bigger ones. As we searched the cameras looking for cards there was one that was missing. Solomon had not come back to uni at this point, so we called him. In the end he was not coming back to uni and decided to go back home. At this point Sam was going to work and so I was left alone with 3 cameras and tripods, with a hard drive that didnt work and wasn't mine.

The came good guy ADAM!

Adam decided that I could take the cards out of the cameras and take them over the weekend till monday in order to find a card reader that works and to save me from taking 4 cameras and tripod home on a bus. One of the cameras had footage stored on the memory and so we put that away safely so no-one can take it until I can get the footage on monday.

On-site at Skidz

Resolving Issues and developing progress

After our presentation Dave had spoken to us about the problems and why the he was disappointed with the presentation (He wasn't the only one). He pointed out a couple of things:

  • No storyboard
  • No Gantt Chart
  • Little Risk Assessment
  • Whether filming Kids was a good option.

We did explain that we had just got confirmation for filming at Skidz. We took these points on board and decided that we would not film with kids.

We were unable to create a Gantt chart and have a storyboard because we hadn't been on site yet. So we decided that the on the weekend we would visit, take photos and book the place in order to get some progression.

Project Proposal

Set Back!

As we only had the green light from the Go Karting place to film a day before we needed to do a Project Proposal this meant we had to scramble to get a presentation done. I managed to create some slides on Prezi but was unsure as to what we needed.

I found it difficult to make a prezi on my own with only basic knowledge of film, and had no knowledge so far as to what was arranged with the Go Karting place. I did the best I could with what i had and reminded Solomon and Sam that we had to do a presentation the next day.

Presentation Day

I arrived at uni an hour before the presentation was due to be done, We also had to do a group meeting  for another class for half an hour. We sat down in the group and expanded on the presentation I had created. I tried to include a Gantt chart but we hadn't booked the place yet.

Short Story-
The presentation was a mess and didn't go as well as i'd hoped, my body language had spoken for itself. I was quite annoyed that no-one had made their own (solomon and sam) in order for us to have more information and be better prepared for the presentation.

Ideas

The group consisted of me, Solomon and Sam.

I am experienced with Stills
Sam has got some experience in both

Ideas

Me and Solomon came up with several ideas, we wanted to do something exciting like filming some sort of Sport. These are the suggestions :

  • WaterSports
           - Scuba Diving
           - Sailing
           - Surfing
  • Archery
  • Go Karting
  • Dirt Biking
  • Music Orchestra

At the time these seemed like viable ideas that we could carry out, but we needed to set a date and check for permission. I was in charge of finding out about watersports. When I checked I was told that it wasn't the right time to go Scuba Diving or Sailing as it was in cold conditions and weather permitted. As we have a set time to finish this assignment we decided that Watersports was not an option, even though i had found someone to agree to go Surfing.

Solomon was in charge of finding out about Go Karting and archery. He managed to get permission from the Go karting, a day before our project proposal was set by. We had little time left and so we decided since we had permission for Go karting we'd run with that one.

As Solomon was getting confirmation, we made the suggestion that we may want to film with kids on the Go Karting track. Sam said that he would make the permission forms.
